Kaiser’s intensive efforts to expand mental health services to all their service areas has inspired HPS to design welcoming, warm and healing spaces.
- The designs balance the use of a bright, optimistic palette with strategically placed art to create a soothing environment for children, teens, and adults.
- Waiting areas were designed as relaxing lounges with a variety of seating options to facilitate socialization and communication, or privacy and technology connectivity. Some unique furniture pieces support alternate postures and individual ways of relaxing.
- Bringing the outdoors in through the use of graphics and natural light deinstitutionalizes the group therapy rooms while the Therapists’ offices are located along the perimeter to insure both natural light and access views to create a relaxing environment for patient encounters.
Taken together these strategies work to lower stress, optimize supportive engagement, and enhance healing.
