County of Santa Clara Valley Health Plan

The Valley Health Plan team assists County employees with their medical care and insurance  coverage.  The project itself was a complete rehabilitation of a “cold shell” into an all-electric building with a new energy efficient envelope to meet the County’s sustainability goals.  

The 70,000 sf workplace accommodates 230 staff in 7 departmental neighborhoods composed of a mix of conference rooms, private offices and hexagonal workstations which all have views of the surrounding hills. 14 light monitors supply diffuse natural light as well as natural ventilation on temperate days. The first floor features a conferencing center which expands out into a new exterior landscaped courtyard featuring native plant materials.  Other amenities include private phone rooms, food focused team areas, lactation rooms and meditation rooms. The design was completed during the pandemic with a goal of providing a soft welcoming environment for collaboration and quiet focused work.
